Wild For Scotland commended in the Climate Creatives Challenge

30th January 2023

Last week, we found out that ‘Hope’ - a short audio piece taken from the Wild For Scotland episode ‘Creature of the Sea‘ - was awarded a commendation at the latest Climate Creatives Challenge #02!

The Climate Creatives Challenge is a competition supporting creative approaches toward communicating the impacts of climate change. Challenge #02 focused on the theme of ‘Ecological Change’ and asked for respones to the question:

How can we communicate the impacts of climate change on a habitat and/or species and the benefits of mitigation, adaptation and resilience?

The challenge was open to all disciplines and creative backgrounds. Our short audio piece ‘Hope’ was inspired by Kathi’s snorkelling artist residency at the Argyll Hope Spot. It was a creative collaboration between writer Kathi Kamleitner, musician Jen Austin and sound designer Fran Turauskis, and aims to connect listeners with a habitat that is only accessible to a few.

‘Hope’ is one of 20 commended pieces, and the only audio work to make it to the final list.

The judges comment said:

Wonderful, immersive, so moving. Brought a tear to my eye.
